#Донецк, Куйбышевский р-н: и что у нас тут было?

The 8th anti-aircraft missile regiment is being formed in the Belarusian Armed Forces

On September 11, we wrote that a new anti-aircraft missile regiment was being formed in the Western Operational Command, it will be stationed in Hrodna (military town No.99 “Vishniavets”).

This info was confirmed. The 62nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment (military unit 96871) is indeed being formed in Hrodna. Probably, the unit is the successor of the 62nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade (military unit 16377) stationed in Vishniavets until its disbandment in

As we noted earlier, the most likely reason for the formation of the 62nd Regiment is the new operational command (Southern), which has been being formed in the Belarusian Armed Forces since

Currently, the Western Operational Command includes the 147th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment (military unit 96869), which is stationed in Babruisk (Mahiliou region).

At the same time, the troops of the Western Operational Command cover the western operational direction, which includes Hrodna and Brest regions.
All units of the operational command (except for the 147th Regiment) are stationed in Hrodna and Brest regions.

Probably, it was decided to include the 147th Regiment in the forming Southern Operational Command because of the distance (Babruisk is much closer to the southern than to the western border of Belarus). And the 62nd Regiment will be included in the Western Command instead.

This decision looks logical and, probably, expedient from the economic point of view.

If the version described above is confirmed, then the 147th Regiment will become the first publicly known unit of the Southern Operational Command.

In January 2023, the 56th Regiment (military unit 10198) was formed in the Air Force and Air Defense Forces. The 62nd Regiment became the 8th in the Belarusian Armed Forces. 5 of them are part of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, the other 3 are part of the Ground Forces.

@deaidua: USAI can be used anywhere in the world, but CNN isn't talking about USAI, they are referring to PDA as funds in error. PDA is an authority not an appropriation.

@BenLP9: The US Army has no reason to buy ATACMS when PrSM is available.

RT @ewannhed: Why is the EU still importing gas, oil and nuclear fuel from #Russia? What is the state of the energy sanctions? What is the lookout going forward?

I try to answer these questions in a new @FOIresearch report:

This one seems to be high on the list of spectacular and rather crazy covert operations. https://twitter.com/Faytuks/status/1836038889179390199#m

RT @JohnH105: @JohnH105: Politico, citing two senior Ukrainian military officials, reported that Zelenskyy discussed a potential Kursk offensive with Zaluzhnyi (presumably before he was replaced as commander-in-chief in February) but Zaluzhnyi opposed it because he worried it would be a “gamble” with no clear endgame.
