"Long-awaited F-16 fighter jets are set to be flying in Ukraine within weeks, but Ukrainian and Western officials now caution that the aircraft, once championed by Kyiv as a game changer, are unlikely to make an immediate impact on the battlefield...
That means the first F-16s will likely serve to boost Ukraine’s air defenses — to shoot down aerial targets such as missiles, drones and aircraft — rather than strike Russia’s invading ground forces and other military assets near the front."

"But the official said that Ukraine already has too few AIM-120 missiles and will have to split them between the F-16s and NASAMS...
Late last year, the official said, Russia launched several missiles with dummy warheads from an S-400 air defense system in Dzankoy, a town in occupied Crimea.
The projectiles reached the Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, more than 200 miles away, the official said, adding that he suspected Moscow was testing the S-400’s range to shoot down aircraft."

RT @Bellerophon_85: @squatsons: Will you ever make out the difference between a claim and reality? Every time you claim a destroyed HIMARS theres just a badly cut video from far away that doesn’t prove anything 🤷♂️

@WarMonitor3: Israel is not a member of NATO, Turkey threatening Greece and not sending almost any aid to Ukraine 🇺🇦 is a lot more concerning.

Although some Russian channels initially claimed that Lotos was killed, others have said that he was not with Wagner / Africa Corps forces there. They also say that TB2 were not operating because Mali does not have ammunition for them. 3/

@GyldenkerneLP: Despite losses, Russia still has a lot of ground-based air defense systems, and Su-35S that are constantly operating.

RT @Doha104p3: The F-35 is a technological marvel. It's the program that's been mismanaged and was/is plagued by cost overruns and delays, but at the end, the product we got and will get (TR-3/BLK 4) is Goated. https://twitter.com/gmorris1919/status/1817216259601150108#m

Any lack of American air defense interceptors that Ukraine may experience is not due to physical scarcity, but rather a supply problem caused by political considerations in DC.
If there is in fact a shortage of AMRAAMs, I expect that it will be soon alleviated by the FMS re-sequencing. As John says, NASAMS operational readiness is likely a much bigger problem than the availability of ammunition. https://twitter.com/John_A_Ridge/status/1817694263733579783#m

"Ukrainian commanders and soldiers interviewed by The Washington Post cited exhaustion and dwindling resources, including a severe lack of troops. A new mobilization law adopted by Ukraine’s parliament has yet to provide desperately needed reinforcements, as new conscripts are still undergoing training, and some draft-eligible men have fled the country or are hiding at home to avoid conscription.
One sergeant, 56, who goes by the call sign 'Bart,' described the situation as “critical” and said there was 'serious chaos' on the front lines. He blamed failures in leadership decisions, including cases of Ukrainian and Russian forces mixing up their positions."

@ryanscottborman @the_engi_nerd @John_A_Ridge: Without doing the year-by-year analysis, the USAF has procured 10,500 AMRAAMs of all models, the USN ~3,300.
