Interesting story. The former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Krasnodar Krai was convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison for receiving a bribe in 2022. He then volunteered to fight in Ukraine as a member of a Storm Z convict unit and was wounded. After treatment, he requested a medical examination in order to become eligible to receive veteran's benefits, but the MoD hospital refused. A court sided with the MoD, and ruled that he was not entitled to such an examination because Storm Z convicts are not servicemembers nor have they signed contracts with volunteer units.
