RT @JamieMctrusty: Sunset, 29th January, 1944. Off the Anzio beachhead, the light cruiser HMS Spartan was hit in the engine room by a Henschel 293 glide bomb. The resulting explosion ignited uncontrollable fires and the ship rapidly began to roll over. 523 of her crew were rescued, but 41 lost their lives.
