6. A detailed thread cataloguing the various UAF and DPR/LPR variants/adaptions of MT-LB chassis from 2014 onwards.

@praisethesteph:
#Ukraine/#Russia 🇺🇦🇷🇺:

Since 2014, there have been many vehicle modifications on both sides on the #Ukrainian battlefield. One of the most frequently modified vehicles is the MT-LB, originally intended as an artillery tractor.

@Blake_Allen13 Feels like a short-term strategy which transformed into a long-term one by accident. After 7 months you have to ask why not pull the troops back and train them up instead of feeding them into the grinder

@AndrewPerpetua Problem?

@SerDer_Daniels:
Когда глава #МАГАТЭ спросил у этого лысого орка почему снаряд торчит так, будто он прилетел с оккупированной территории, тот на полном серьезе, на ходу стал сочинять, что после прилета снаряд развернулся на 180°

@CChernyakhovsky Advantage in the sense they aren’t constantly trying to throw uppercuts? 🤷

Sounds about right.

@J_JHelin:
Some have called the Russian efforts to take Bakhmut senseless, but I don't necessarily agree.

Why does Bakhmut matter and why are both Ukraine and Russia willing to throw so many men into the meatgrinder it has become?

As promised: why Bakhmut? A thread.

Butusov’s piece included an alleged screenshot of a tablet battle plan. Paint-by-numbers warfare.
-----------
@tom_bullock_:
‘Battle plans (effectively assault approach routes and axes) are planned on tablets using navigation programmes and Google Earth views… you don’t need to think, you need to check the movement of your group on a tablet or smartphone.’
tom (Twitter)

‘Losses do not reduce the combat effectiveness of units, as commanders and staffs of units, weapons operators, intelligence and control remain a permanent composition that is not expended in assault actions and retains specialization.’
tom (Twitter)

‘the attacks actually have the character of constant reconnaissance by fighting small groups of infantry… often the shelling of our positions after a repulsed attack is carried out more massively than artillery preparation.’

RT @KomissarWhipla: For ICBM silo loading connoisseurs: not one, but two fresh Yarses deployed at Kozelsk, yesterday and today.

RT @tom_bullock_: It should be recognized as an advantage of “Wagner” that the PMK command plans combat operations taking into account the real capabilities of its personnel.  The tasks are set as primitive as possible.

@ColinRobinsonNZ Yes in the case of T-12/MT-12's. As a smoothbore gun it allows higher pressures, thus higher projectile speeds. Its still well-regarded. Although old its maintained in AT role by UAF for this reason. Additionally here it will be used for indirect fire as UAF lacks arti rounds.
