@SirCasKing M1 Abrams was in service since 1980 countries like Egypt, Kuwait, Iraq, Morocco, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Australia each have several hundreds of Abrams. Poland and Brazil will get them too. Countries with worse logistics, worse militaries, and low jet fuel production use Abrams

@edolis @DefensePolitics In this poll it’s to nominate “the most influential and wave making person (in the field of geopolitics, economics, culture, military, or local politics) in the world in the year of 2022”

Patriots are being sent to defend Ukrainian cities from Russian missile strikes on civilian infrastructure. They don't provide Kyiv with the capability of conducting strikes deep into Russian territory. The status quo is dangerous for Ukrainian civilians and this move will help.

@bneeditor:
This is dangerous move. These are exactly the nato missile that are in Poland & Romania, the fear of these going into ukr are what caused Putin to start this war in first place https://t.co/pSVfpJ3X0q

RT @thewarzonewire: In this Downlink, we take a look at China's massive new (and now operational) dry dock on Hainan Island, which sits at the northern reach of the South China Sea. It can support pretty much anything in the PLAN's inventory, including its carriers, one of which is based nearby. https://twitter.com/thewarzonewire/status/1603103670052466688/photo/1

There was virtually no chance that the US would have provided Patriot systems to Ukraine before the war, and I'm not sure it would have happened without Russia adopting a strategy to target civilian infrastructure. This is a response to Russia's actions, not the other way around.

The US still isn't providing ATACMS, fighters, and a variety of other offensive systems, and it limited its pre-war aid mostly to hand-held Javelins and Stingers even when an invasion was imminent. We need to move beyond pre-Feb 24 conversations about Russian threat perceptions.
