Alexander Kharchenko says that the war in Syria saved the Krasnopol PGM round when the Orlan-30 was developed to laze targets for it. He says Russia did not have enough Orlan UAVs for the war, and they didn't use Krasnopols without them.

He also suggests that Russia did not have enough trained artillery crews when the war began and that their performance with conventional artillery rounds in Syria wasn't great. In contrast, he says Armenian artillery crews were still very effective with older systems. 2/

I did something similar to you on the Shahed Drones and them being shot down, but still haven’t finished tracking regions where each drone was shot down or hit

If my opinion helps .... I can say Mortis's knowledge, research and help (always super quick) were invaluable to my threads when I was tracking the Russian build-up prior to the 24 February invasion and during the first weeks of the war. I hope you quickly find similar work.

A single pipe section was found 200m away standing vertically with damage to the outer casing.

@21aar_show I had the same problem with accounting for the drones shot down and ones that hit. I used the specific number and % given by Ukraine to make sure that all interception and hit totals add up to the number Ukraine said. I only didn’t account for 2 Shahed drones that were shot down.
