This post from a Russian Telegram channel suggests that VDV Commander Colonel General Mikhail Teplinsky may have a command role with Russian forces in Kherson where most VDV units are located. Maybe he took over when Surovikin took overall command?

There are large concentrations of Russian and Belarusian Troops in Belarus North of Kyiv, and Russia has been transferring a significant amount of equipment to the region
Do you think that Russia will do another push to try and take Kyiv?

@AdmirlNelson That’s what I imagine, because Russia will fail in even reaching Kyiv. Russia hasn’t taken any large areas in the past 3 months. How would they be able to take Kyiv when they can’t even take Mykolaiv.

@jackryan212 I don’t think it will happen because Russia failed the first time when Ukraine was not even prepared. Russia has lost a ton of territory in Ukraine the past 2 months and haven’t taken anything new in the past 3 months. How could they take Kyiv when they can’t even take Mykolaiv.
