We knew that Vostok 2022 would be far smaller than previous annual command-staff exercises, but compare the first two photos from the Vostok 2022 opening ceremony to the last two from Vostok 2018.

@PhillipsPOBrien @MarkHertling Sure, but that was mostly a reflection of Russia's advantage in artillery, not aviation. Ukraine didn't significantly upgrade its air defenses during that time. Ukraine's offensive may be historically notable, but I don't think lacking air supremacy would make it unprecedented.

@PhillipsPOBrien @MarkHertling I was specifically saying a Ukrainian advance without air supremacy would not be unprecedented (maybe other aspects are), and you falsely averred they are doing so without tactical air support.
