Volunteers cleaning beaches near Kirkenes / Finnmark / Northern Norway found thousands of 7.62×25 rounds, 3 x 50mm mortar shells and a Mosin-Nagant rifle, possibly a WW2 partisan cache.

Denne uka fant strandryddere flere kasser med ammunisjon og tre bombekastergranater i Kirkenes. Enkelte steder i Finnmark er det rett og slett farlig å tenne bål fordi det er så tett mellom eksplosivene.

An estimated 200 000 - 300 000 tons of WW2 munitions remains in Norwegian nature, the majority dumped at sea.
The problem is most severe on land in eastern Finnmark, where the Germans blew up and sat fire to vast stocks when retreating before the Red Army in 1944.
