Yes, Rheinmetall is being considered as the prime contractor for AUR assembly. Seekers would still likely have to come from Boeing.

"we’re now expanding and announcing partnerships, whether it be with Rheinmetall (...) looking at how we do maintenance AND missile facilities for the PAC-3 system"

Ya they should just give their IP away to competitors for free.

@ColbyBadhwar “Suggests that establishing a second source wasn't practical.”

No it establishes that Boeing crippled any competition with excess IP charging.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, last night Russia launched 4 Tsirkon/Onyx, 27 Iskander-M/S-400, and 2 Kh-31 and 2 Kh-59/69 missiles. Only 1 Iskander-M/S-400 and Kh-59/69 were intercepted. Russia also launched 185 OWA drones, including Banderol.

"At least nine people have been killed and 28 others injured in another massive Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv overnight on Aug. 1. The attack gave residents only a few minutes' warning before impact, leaving many trapped beneath the rubble of their homes."

"Three Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) service members were injured and there is "no contact" with five others following an ammunition detonation at a military training ground in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, western Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces reported on July 31.

"Search teams are currently examining the site," the SOF said in a post on social media.

The incident began at around 11:55 a.m., and the ammunition continued detonating until 7 p.m. The cause and circumstances remain unclear.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) opened criminal proceedings into a possible violation of rules regarding the handling of weapons, ammunition, explosives, or other hazardous materials."

“The Russian Rassvet satellites operated by Bureau 1440 already provide at least two “communication windows” per day over Ukraine, each lasting more than an hour.

Satellite communications expert Volodymyr Stepanets told Militarnyi this based on an analysis of the Russian satellites’ trajectories.

As of July 31, 2026, the satellites of the Russian company Bureau 1440, launched in late March 2026, had completed their deployment into operational formation in orbit. Twelve of the 16 launched satellites have already reached their operational altitude of 550 kilometers; three more are gradually ascending; and one satellite burned up, presumably due to a manufacturing defect.”

"Ukraine’s Black Sea ports are being ravaged by a new type of Russian missile, the Banderol — whose defining feature is its low cost...

'This is a very dangerous gizmo,' Vlasiuk told journalists as he showed off part of a Banderol fired last year. 'The majority of strikes on the port infrastructure in Odesa are with Banderols.'..

Vlasiuk said his office determined that 80% of strikes on the ports of greater Odesa — including the neighboring Chornomorsk and Pivden — involved Banderols. The missile’s 150 kilogram (330 pound) warhead is bigger than that of Shaheds, and they fly at speeds too fast for Ukraine’s newest interceptor drones to catch.

But they are also too cheap — estimated at $150,000-$300,000 per copy — to justify using many surface-to-air missiles, including the Patriot interceptors that are running low across Ukraine and worldwide."

@ColbyBadhwar The Army spent more than five years developing and testing the most recent seeker enhancement on the MSE. It isn’t going to develop, integrate and operationalize a completely new unrelated seeker inside 5 years. Not unless they reduce the requirements like LM is proposing with

MBDA Germany is RTX's partner on PAC-2. Rheinmetall is partnered with LM on ATACMS and other LM products and has expressed a desire to produce PAC-3.
Martin Koenig, @m_koenig
@ColbyBadhwar MBDA Germany is LMTs partner for PAC2 production in DE, and produces rocket motors, warheads and electronics for Meteor, AIM9, RIM and others. Rheinmetall is highly unlikely a realistic partner for PAC3.
