@aacrawford6 @AmiriKing: Anthony, based on the statements in the video, you may have grounds for a potential defamation lawsuit because the creator of the video falsely portrayed you, as a police officer, as a racist and dangerous threat to Black people based solely on an Instagram “like,” despite having no evidence of violent intent or racist conduct.

The video goes beyond having a protected opinion protected by the constitution and instead he is imply factual claims about your character and conduct as an officer, which has led to death threats, serious reputational damage, and consequences for your career.

The moment he claimed that you faithfully will discharge your weapon against all Black people even when they don’t have one, and that you took the oath to protect and serve everyone except Black people, it crossed the line from opinion into potentially defamatory factual accusations.

An Instagram “like” alone is not proof or evidence that someone agrees with a statement, because Instagram comments can be liked for many reasons, including dark humor, bookmarking, or irony. There is no evidence that liking one comment means someone intends violence and unlawful use of force against a specific race or holds those beliefs.

You should consider consulting a local attorney about potentially filing a defamation lawsuit, as several of the false statements were presented as fact, they were published publicly with the intent to damage your career, and they caused substantial harm to you without evidence to support those allegations.
