Eliminating the missile program was a core operational objective -- now it is absent from the U.S. proposal to end the war, per WSJ. Khartiia was formed just after the start of the full-scale invasion as a volunteer unit under the 🇺🇦127th Territorial Defense Brigade, based in Kharkiv.
Agricultural businessman Vsevolod Kozhemyako provided funding and support, teaming up with (then-retired) Colonel Ihor Obolienskyi as the unit's operational commander.

During the spring of 2022, the unit took part in the liberation of northern Kharkiv oblast.
It fought near Ruska Lozova and Mali Prokhody.
The Kharkiv counteroffensive in September of the same year would see Khartiia liberate Ukrainian territory up to the border with Russia.

After spending the winter in Soledar and Bakhmut, Khartiia was expanded to Brigade size in early 2023, under the National Guard's "Offensive Guard" program.
It fully deployed at the end of the year, taking positions in the Serebryanka forest besides the legendary Azov Brigade.

May 10th 2024 was a major turning point in Khartiia's history - the Russian Kharkiv Offensive began on the northern border, and the brigade was called to respond.
The reshuffling of units that ensued saw the Brigade deploy to the Lyptsi-Hlyboke sector within the first week of the offensive.
This area is just ~10 kilometers from where the unit had fought two years earlier.
