Trump surprised Gulf allies and angered leadership in Saudi Arabia by announcing “Project Freedom” on Sunday afternoon, US officials told NBC News.
In response, Riyadh informed Washington it would not allow US military aircraft to operate from the Prince Sultan Air or fly through Saudi airspace to support the effort, the officials said.
A call between US President Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman did not resolve the issue, the two US officials said, forcing the president to pause Project Freedom in order to restore US military access to the critical airspace.

RT @bekamaciorowski: My heart is really full.
Tonight, some of my BEST soldiers finally made it back from the combat positions after several months.
I worried about them constantly.
A few injuries but nothing life-threatening.
Now they are here with me, recovering in our medical point. ❤️
