Now, let's talk about Tomahawk.
Japan just received their first missiles last month. If deliveries are scheduled for completion in March 2028, that's 200 missiles per year.
Raytheon has production capacity for 600 per year, which is being increased to 1000 per year. Production capacity is shared between new built Block Vs and recertification/upgrade of Block IVs to Block V.
The US orders very few new Block Vs for itself, so FMS orders are key to meeting the production line's Minimum Sustaining Rate of 90/year.
Bloomberg claims that in 2025, 100 new Block Vs were produced and 240 recertifications.
The delivery schedule on the P-1 has 165 new Block Vs for the US and 208 recertified Block Vs in FY2025.
Either way we're talking about a little over half of total...

🇺🇸 The Trump Admin is requesting $1.504 trillion in defense spending, but just for FY 2027. It will be cut by $220 billion the next year.
FY 2027 base request: $1.154 trillion
FY 2027 reconciliation: $350 billion
FY 2028 request: $1.284 trillion
This is a 1 year surge in procurement & RDT&E spending. Will be interesting to see the Pentagon's detailed FYDP for these programs later this month. Such a large increase in funding is hard to manage when you're going to lose $220 billion of it the following year.

This is pretty much everything the Department needs. Notable additions are JATM, PrSM, and SM-3IIA which were not previously authorized.
15 separate authorizations in total, and FAMM, ERAM & ETV all include multiple munitions.

I'd say that today's story isn't that the US is conducting a CSAR mission over Iran, but rather that it took 5 weeks until it was necessary.
In an operation of this scale and duration, losses are inevitable, but US and Israeli aircraft losses have so far been very low.

While especially the loss of the E-3 was painful, I think the losses on the ground have been low too, considering that US aircraft operate from some bases well within the range of Iranian BM's and UAV's, for 5 weeks now.
