RT @ArmsControlWonk: This is being framed as censorship but it’s actually just prosaic advice for language relating to photo-interpretation. We just accused CENTCOM of PAC’ing a Bahraini neighborhood, but one still needs to respect analytic tradecraft.

This is terrible analysis. Impacts are only relevant if they actually hit an intended target, something on the critical asset list or have some other measurable result.
Counting how many projectiles leak but fail to achieve results is the *wrong number.*

The "Iran is losing" narrative is tracking the wrong number. Yes, missile and drone launch rates are down 90%+.
But hit rate (or confirmed impacts per projectile fired) has been climbing steadily since Day 1.
A 🧵 on what the data actually shows.

RT @OPTester_Chris: Ok, former US Navy officer and I’ll explain:
- If you believe the 12-14 month repair claim you are naive. That repair timeline is associated with the repairs post-deployment and is most likely taken out of context. And that timeline is typical of an aircraft carrier after a long deployment.
- Firefighting on an aircraft carrier is divided between fires associated with fires on the flight deck or hangar bay versus fires throughout the rest of the ship. Each type of firefighting is different and complex.
- Warships do train to handle all types and sizes of fires. It’s a constant effort and hours of practice. Yes, the US Navy has had a couple of incidents that left a mark (USS Bonhomme Richard most recently) and as a result, firefighting has been emphasized in a variety of situations and environments.
- The 30 hours of damage control for a laundry room fire reported in the news was indicative to a good size firefighting effort coupled with the associated cleanup from fire. I seriously doubt the fire raged for 30 hours. Fires on ship are not rare and because of how warships are constructed and arranged can lead to damage in surrounding areas.
- The cause of the fire and assessment of the damage control efforts will be done. Those reports can be requested via FOIA after the investigations are completed and endorsed. So no need to make any more assumptions.

Chili Dog (@RobertJMolnar)
please explain how a fire in a laundry room, with all of the fire fighting equipment and firefighters on board, because, you know, it's a fucking warship that trains for shit like this, caused damage that will take 12-1…

I assume that Rheinmetall is referring to Skyranger/Skynex's capability of intercepting RAM (rockets, artillery, mortars) class ballistic threats, rather than actual ballistic missiles.
Gun based ballistic missile defense isn't really a thing. https://twitter.com/thegauguy/status/2036414599281406282#m
