AIM-174 doesn't have a sufficient production base. Carrier Wings would be fighting the surface fleet for the same missile.

Yes. Europe has barely grown at all. Stagnate continent. Canada's problem isn't our population growth over the last 25 years, it's that economic growth and housing construction hasn't kept pace. Plus the last 10 years saw a massive decline in the quality of immigrants admitted. https://twitter.com/DavidColetto/status/2024027721462874501#m

@DaveLeyerl92510 @Tas1Bora: Yes, to 500. Take away 300 for this, and you're left with just 200 for everything else that SM-6 is used for. Raytheon can offer it for this requirement if they want, but they're going to need to fund an expansion for another 300-500 missiles on top of the framework deal.

@daytrdr05677: Population growth over the last 25 years has been about the same as it was for the previous 25 year period. Yet nobody in the 80s & 90s was screaming that our population growth was totally out of control. People could afford homes back then.
So no, population growth isn't inherently the problem. Our economy stagnated, we stopped building things, and the people we let in were low quality.

🇰🇷🇺🇸🇺🇦 This is a long overdue step that South Korea is contemplating. The security establishment there has been pretty frank about the threat posed to them by Russian-DPRK military cooperation, but the politicians have been unwilling to take action in response.
If they were really smart, they would send their own weapons, so that they could be combat tested, but that's probably a bridge too far for them.
