🇺🇸🇧🇷 Northrop Grumman and Embraer want to build NGAS for the USAF

The two are "joining forces to combine their insights and experiences to rapidly advance the initiatives required to deliver a next generation air-refueling system."

In 2024 the USAF deemed the Next Generation Air-refueling System a priority program, but funding levels have remained low. Just $13 million for RDT&E this year, with analysis & market research scheduled to continue through the end of FY2026, and no future plans identified beyond that.

The USAF does not expect to have NGAS delivered before FY2036, though this is sooner than the original plan of FY2040.

Boeing's KC-46A continues to be procured in the interim, to meet USAF tanker fleet recapitalization needs.
