Today - exactly 12 years ago - the bloody сulmination of the Revolution of Dignity began.
And right in those days, February 18-20, 2014, Russia started its war against Ukraine. The final preparations had been secretly underway for months.
Back then, just like today, skeptics told us Ukrainians could never win. Yanukovych’s repressive machine looked unbeatable.
But in just a few days it collapsed. Yanukovych, his inner circle, and many of his security forces and enforcers fled in panic. Those who stayed behind were later traded for Ukrainian POWs.

@globeearthshil @WarMonitor3: Nothing has helped Russia more in the past two years than the focus on the Middle East since October 7th. After October 7 the US dropped aid to Ukraine by 60%, and when Trump came into office it was dropped by 100%, while the US has focused on weak military powers like Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran and on proxy groups in the Middle East instead of Russia and China. These proxy groups are funded by Russia and promoted by China, and it keeps the US distracted and wasting resources there, serving as a distraction from Russia and China and decreasing focus on larger threats
The US does not care about Russia or what Russia is doing. They’ll bomb Iran more, bomb the Houthi, Venezuela, Cuba, or some other group after this. The cycle of bombing (this middle eastern country or terrorist group) has strategic implications for Russia, then another terrorist group or country gets funded, and the US does the same. A cycle that has been occurring since early 2000s, and people don’t wonder why Russia funds terrorist groups in the Middle East. Because it’s so easy to keep the US distracted. The US was rightly focused on helping Ukraine in the war in 2022 and 2023, then once October 7th happened, another one of Russia’s partners who they funded, all the US focus has shifted to the Middle East, and off Russia. It’s never shifted back, now reporting by news and accounts on Twitter about Iran, which is a joke country, with no Air Force, air defenses, and an economy making up 1% of BRICS, who doesn’t fund Russia’s war anymore at all, is made to seem like the most serious threat.
Putin and Xi, love it since eth focus isn’t on them. They can continue funding the Middle East, where US will pour endless resources into, like Tomahawks, SM-3, and Patriot, and they get to expand their militaries and economies for massive wars.
