1. Severe infantry shortages. Over the last couple of months, Russia has struggled to carry out any meaningful or tactically significant assault operations. A key problem is the low quality of recruits, which results in understaffed assault units.

2. Last year’s tactical successes around Pokrovsk and Hulyaipole were achieved largely because of severe fog, which exposed a number of weaknesses in Ukrainian defensive tactics that have since been mostly addressed.

3. Ukraine is currently conducting several successful counterattack operations in the south and rolling back Russian gains.

4. The Russian troop strategy is “complete the task and die,” according to a friend who is fighting. It is a borrowed-time strategy, and that time is running out.

@harryfatback: Iran’s impact on the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 was a much larger problem for Ukraine years ago, when Iran was producing and sending Shahed drones to Russia, but now Russia produces all of the Shaheds launched at Ukraine.

Iran economically is extremely weak. My point isn’t that Iran is useless in BRICS, but prioritizing Iran for a year now, and thinking that a couple strikes will some how change Russia’s war on Ukraine, isn’t realistic, neither militarily since Iran doesn’t account for a 1% of Russian missiles or drones, nor economically since Iran makes up ~1.3% of the total BRICS GDP and about 7% of their oil exports.

Countries like Cuba are the poorest countries in the world and have been for decades, their influence in the world outside of Cuba is minimal at best. They don’t supply Russia, economically or militarily. It’s like if you had a homeless person as a friend, them leaving your life won’t make much of an impact on your life,...
