The Pentagon has been testing this tech for a while now in more remote areas and FAA and Pentagon officials had been scheduled to meet February 20 to review potential impacts and mitigation measures for a test of the laser system

🇺🇸 In an interesting coincidence, 9 hours before the FAA issued the El Paso NOTAM yesterday evening, the DoW published a fact sheet on "Updated Guidance for Countering Unmanned Aircraft Systems in the Homeland."
Some notable authorities in the policy:
▶️ "Grants commanders the authority to extend defensive actions beyond the physical “fence line” of an installation"
▶️ "Removed redundant policy “zones” and prescribed only Zones 1 and 2, to simplify engagement within and outside of the installation."
▶️ "Clarifies and reinforces the ability to share data across all agencies across the federal
government." (Clearly this didn't work as intended)

If it can, I let the Prime Minister know that will be a preference. If it cannot, we will just have to see what the outcome will be. Last time Iran decided that they were better off not making a Deal, and they were hit with Midnight Hammer — That did not work well for them. Translation: Because the United States continues to re-sequence the Foreign Military Sales delivery schedule for PATRIOT Fire Units in support of donations to Ukraine, Switzerland is having preliminary considerations of alternatives.
SAMP/T is not specifically mentioned in the linked news article. I have seen no evidence of any senior Swiss government officials openly suggesting PATRIOT be abandoned in favour of SAMP/T.
If the Swiss were to procure SAMP/T, it begs the question whether France would first fulfill Macron's promise of 10 Fire Units for Ukraine before fulfilling any orders for Switzerland.
