German panzergrenadiers of the 1st SS Panzer Division move through Honsfeld on 17 December after the town was captured by Kampfgruppe Peiper. To the right is an Sd.Kfz. 251 Ausf. D, the standard German infantry half-track, while to the left is a captured example of its American counterpart, the M3 half-track. The vehicle in the background is a Mobelwagen 37mm antiaircraft vehicle, one of two knocked out during the fighting by an American antitank gun.

When Kampfgruppe Peiper reached Ligneuville, one of its Panthers commanded by SS-Untersturmfuhrer (2nd Lieutenant) Arndt Fischer was knocked out by a Sherman, probably from 9th Armored Division, in front of the Hotel des Ardennes. It is still sitting there later in the month after the heavy snowfall around Christmas.
