Significant development. The base has been a major stronghold of US forces in Iraq.
Notably, it came under Iranian ballistic missile attack in January 2020. https://twitter.com/jhaboush/status/2012583303446954044#m

It’s unclear where the Russians keep finding them, but lately there has been a noticeable increase in the number of “heavy infantry” observed within Russian ranks. https://twitter.com/bayraktar_1love/status/2012526733996523579#m

@WarMonitor3: The US should focus on Russia, not just Iran
Russia is something Trump continuous ignores, probably becuase Putin influences Trump and officials in his administration, while Russia continues to commit war crimes in Ukraine

@MiguelSerious @WarMonitor3: The top partners of Russia are China and India, and the rest of the world doing business with Russia combined. The best way to weaken Russia would be:
1. Seizing hundreds of Russian shadow fleet tankers that are exporting products from Russia
2. Sending missiles to Ukraine to strike Russian military factories, like the Shahed factory in Yelabuga
3. Sending missiles to Ukraine to strike Russian oil refineries, ports, and gas processing plants
Those account for around 40% of Russia’s GDP, and a significant amount of its imports. It’s the main way to stop Russia.
Iran accounts for 0.6% of Russia’s exports, and 0.4% of their imports. Iran is primarily an influence in the Middle East, which the US seems to be distracted with for the past two decades first due to 9/11, now because of Israel. One of Russia’s strategies is to make the US and other countries focus on countries in the Middle East or South America, instead of focusing directly on Russia.
Once a terrorist group or country in the Middle East is toppled, Russia simply funds another terrorist group or country in the Middle East, and the cycle continues. Saying that, let’s focus on the Middle East, and not Russia, and in that way it will hurt Russia the most, is a never-ending battle, and a waste of US resources when the two main countries that need to be stopped directly are China and Russia, and doing that is targeting their domestic economic production and exports. I guarantee you, nothing in the future will change with Russia’s war on Ukraine due to Iran, whether or not they fall. Their fall is mainly due to the people of Iran revolting, as it has been throughout history. What these arguments of focusing on the Middle East have led to, is the ending of all US military aid to Ukraine, the escalation of Russian strikes in Ukraine, and the focus being taken completely off of Ukraine since the war in Gaza. And the US could focus on both Iran and Russia, but it chooses not to.
Iran has 92 million people, who are on the right path and should continue to go against their government, but to tie that to “the main way to weaken Russia” is propaganda to get US involved more in the Middle East, similarly likes it’s used to get US involved in Venezuela or Greenland more, not focus on stopping Russia, and isn’t backed up by reality.
The main way to stop Russia is by allowing Ukraine to strike Russian factories, oil refineries, and seize Russian tankers which will hurt their wartime production and significantly decrease their government's income from exports. Both the US and Europe are acting too weak and unmotivated to do this, which is why the war is only growing larger and continuing.
