@NorthM1lenn1al: It is an oil tanker that carried oil from Venezuela and Iran to primarily China. This trip it was going to pick up Venezuelan oil to deliver it to Russia.
The US wanted to seized the tanker, the crew started to flee, and changed its flag to a Russian flag, mid-voyage on December 24, 2025 in order to prevent the possibility of seizure. Iran and Venezuela have done that to their tankers recently to stop them from being seized.
It was sailing under the Guyana flag when started sailing away from Venezuela. Then mid-voyage after the possibility of seizure begun, it changed its flag to Russian, pretending to be a Russian ship to prevent seizure. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out too well. It’s not a Russian oil tanker, it never was. It’s not apart of the Russian shadow tanker fleet, and it was carrying oil from Venezuela and Iran to other countries, mainly China. It changed its flag mid-voyage, only after US was planning to seize it. All the ships that carry oil for Venezuela could use that tactic, that doesn’t make them Russian ships, that makes them ships scared of seizure.
