Russian brigade commander Colonel Erik Anverovich Selimov killed in traffic accident near Alchevsk
On January 4, 2026, Colonel Erik Anverovich Selimov, commander of the 136th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, was killed in a road traffic accident.
The vehicle carrying the brigade commander and three security personnel collided with a UAZ transporting servicemen from the 88th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.

Russians again tried to attack through gas pipeline.
Russian forces attempted to advance in the Kharkiv region using the Soyuz gas pipeline as a concealed infiltration route. On the Kupiansk axis, north of Novoplatonivka toward Nova Kruhlakivka and Zahryzove, about 50 Russian troops were involved in the operation.
The 77th separate airmobile Dnipro brigade of the 7th air assault corps detected the attempt in time and, together with adjacent units, stopped the assault. At least 40 Russian soldiers were confirmed killed.
