It comes down more to political considerations, felt pressure and objectives, as seen from the Kremlin.
A sort of phoney war in some areas, away from the proximity of an incident or episode, due to escalation concerns on both sides, is also something I think shouldn't be discounted.

@RohrSchalmei1 @Mortis_Banned: Short version: People tend to think of a NATO - Russia war in terms of a Russian invasion of somewhere, with the preceding associated ground forces buildup, but I think it could take many forms.
One shouldn't fail to imagine a these other forms or shapes.
