Russia sees another wave of high-profile purges, a new wave of arrests targeting senior officials and businessmen over the past week.
On September 30, Major General of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Mikhail Nadyozhin, was detained.
On September 29, Major General Valery Golota, head of the National Guard in North Ossetia–Alania, was arrested along with subordinates.
On September 29, Oleg Chemezov, deputy governor of Sverdlovsk region, was also taken into custody.
On September 25, Dmitry Rodionov, deputy governor of Vologda region and former Karelia official, was detained.
On September 23, businessman and billionaire Alexey Bobrov, was arrested together with his associates.
