Thousands of long-range missiles would not be needed to make a significant different. Several hundreds could make a big difference if allowed to strike with their full range inside Russia. The US has over 13,500 cruise missiles including 2,000 ATACMS, while Europe has ~2,000 long-range missiles. Meaning in total, NATO currently has over 15,500 long-range missiles. Sending even 800 to 1,000 missiles, or 5% of NATO’s stockpile, from the US and from the NATO, would make a massive difference, as well as funding and working on Ukrainian long range missile programs. Sending 100 missiles to entirely take out Russia’s Shahed factory would save NATO billions of dollars in the long run, and stop Russia’s production of over 30,000 to 50,000 Shaheds per year.
That number of missiles is insignificant for the US, it’s <1% of their missiles, around as many Tomahawk missiles that they used on the Houthis a year ago in the past.
