RT @RpsAgainstTrump: Not a big fan of Jimmy Kimmel, but if you think his show should be canceled for this, you’re a hack and a total fraud who should never pretend to care about free speech

RT @Tatarigami_UA: Small tale of the day: The Soviet secret police, headed by Yagoda, ran Stalin’s purges. Yagoda was eventually executed by his successor, Yezhov, who in turn was executed by Beria. Beria himself was also executed. When you create such a system, it surely consumes its perpetrators

RT @IAPonomarenko: Say what you will about Ukraine, but when in the year 2000 a famous young journalist, a sharp critic of the authorities and the founder of the country’s leading news outlet, was brutally murdered, it became the spark for mass anti-government protests against the mafia regime in what was then a very stagnant post-Soviet hole under Moscow’s thumb.

When soon afterward pro-Russian mafia groups brazenly falsified the presidential elections, it led to the first mass nationwide protest on the Maidan.

When those same pro-Russian mafia clans finally plundered the country to the bone and, to top it all off, with unprecedented arrogance rolled back democratic reforms and the turn toward the West - and then had the audacity to use bloody violence - it triggered armed resistance and a revolution.

And in Ukraine, for as long as our generation can remember, for all the country’s flaws, no one has ever been able to forbid us from publicly trashing the government - in press or in social media - without facing fierce pushback.

And there has always been someone mocking the authorities on television - and one of those guys you now know as the current president of Ukraine - and there was no one who was allowed to shut them up just like that.
