Attacks are larger in scale and but also in complexity. Multiple UAVs flew in from two countries, Belarus and Ukraine ✅

If a country flew cruise missiles or dozens of drones with no warhead hundreds of kilometers into America. America would 100% see that as an attack. Ukraine gets attacked with these drones all the time. It is always interpreted as an attack and always will be, due to all the reasons I just listed. Some of those reasons partially overlap with incursion, but there is a distinction that pushes it over the edge.

What makes this an attack is the scale of the attack and depth of penetration into Poland, these drones penetrated 40% into Poland’s air space. Russia attacked Poland from two country’s borders, not just one, Belarus and Ukraine. The hostile and aggressive intent. The threat of using force against the other country, meaning it doesn’t matter if those drones were loaded with warheads or not, they could carry jammers or intelligence gathering equipment. Previous drones or missiles flying into Poland were small in scale. 1 or 2 drones flying in for a couple of minutes then turning back. This became 23 drones, flying very deep into Poland for hours, into most of the country, causing damage to Polish houses, and posing a large threat to the entire country since at the time it wasn’t known what was in them.

It’s like if I point a gun at someone, and then get arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but then say there was no bullet in the gun, so it wasn’t an attack.

It’s a common pattern by NATO to downplay every escalation Russia does, instead of treating this as a hostile attack, it’s being downplayed and portrayed as Russia trying to provoke NATO. When in reality, Russia is testing NATO’s reaction to see if there are no serious reaction, then they will normalize such activity and escalate more. Russia loves this because they get no serious consequences and get to escalate. Meanwhile, we are here arguing over whether this was an incursion or attack, Russia is preparing to continue this and do something larger.

This follows a declaration by multiple European countries that they would place a large-scale joint order for the CV90, which is expected to come in the second half of 2026.

Currently BAE has production capacity for CV90 in Sweden, Czechia and Slovakia, with a new facility being constructed in the Netherlands.

@Schizointel: To be fair: There isn't a direct connection between scrambling the QRA and the threat of an air attack/air defence engagement.

The former have happened many times, over time, when there are strikes against western Ukraine but the latter has only happened once.
