@ShipWrektPod @the_ex_engineer: I am aware but I think a short term dip in RN strength, despite the service's problems, will be more than offset with medium to long term gains for us both.

@ShipWrektPod @the_ex_engineer: If words are turned into actions here, it will be possible for at least some of the original crew of the frigate being turned to Norway to gain experience in Norwegian service.

This deal is much more than a frigate acquisition. This is the RNoN integrating with the RN on maintenance, education/training, personell exchanges (prob much larger than in the past) and operations+++

@nkhaugen: And on this, the Royal Navy is IMO the best choice, despite their current problems. It might even help them to get out of it.

@JerryHendrixII @POTUS: I was long of the opinion, for a multitude of reasons, that Constellation (outfitted in Norway) was the top contender, but due to how the program has been managed, I think it played itself out on the sidelines.

@ShipWrektPod @the_ex_engineer: The ambitions on this side of the North Sea seem bigger than anything we have done in the past.

PM said at the presser that it was the UK and RN as a strategic partner that tilted the decision.

@HthHans: There is an option in the Defense Pledge for a sixth.

I don't think that is likely, mainly due to manpower, not finances.

A sixth would have been much more likely if we had gone for FDI.

@John_A_Ridge: Constellation likely played itself out on the sidelines due to how the program has been managed.

Our Air Force will fall apart without the US, the belief in the bilateral relationship is strong, so this is just hogwash.

@ShipWrektPod @the_ex_engineer: Our PM, not yours. Sorry, should have been specific there.
