@IBallantyn: Think this will be a bit of both, with either HMS Cardiff or perhaps more likely HMS Belfast becoming the first Norwegian. If I remember correctly, this has been rumoured/talked about in the sales pitches.

Another side of the frigate decision:

In February, BAE and HAMEK, a yard in Harstad/Northern Norway, signed a MoU on expanding a dock and conduct T26 maintenance if that became our choice.

Not surprising, spirits are high in Harstad today.

@Gregsiero: The US Constellation-class was among the final candidates but since the program has been messed up, I think it selected it self out.

The runner up was likely the French FDI class.

@JohnHealey_MP: The strategic partnership side is as important as the ships themselves, if not more: https://twitter.com/DefenceHQ/status/1962133722292957543#m

RT @nkhaugen: @The_Lookout_N: And the HAMEK facility will also benefit other Navies when operating in the Arctic since (when finished) only enclosed docking facility with sufficient size for a large FF/DD. BDR anyone...

@nkhaugen: I'm kind of surprised to see grumbling from a few in uniform that French would have been better, discussing only the ships themselves, not looking at the whole package around this decision.
