A Mi-24 helicopter of the Belarusian Air Defense Forces reportedly intercepted a Russian Gerbera UAV flying towards Ukraine over the Gomel region of Belarus, on July 12. This means that Belarus has intercepted more Russian drones than all NATO/EU forces combined.

Axios, citing two sources familiar with the matter, reported that the U.S. may be preparing to send long-range missiles capable of striking deep into Russian territory, including Moscow.

@casualdiot: The ability for Ukraine to launch Tomahawks is certainly an obstacle, but at least two solutions exist to allow them to be ground-launched, one of those solutions is possible, it would allow for launching a small amount of missiles. Or another ground based launcher could be made.

@casualdiot: Ukraine has received different variations of F-16s, some of their F-16s have some but not all the necessary requirements to employ JASSM missiles. These F-16s have the capability to be upgraded to carry JASSMs.
The US has studied the possibility of allowing Ukraine to launch JASSMs since mid-2024, and it would likely take several weeks of upgrades before JASSMs can be launched from F-16s. It’s not an impossible task, however, upgrades may take weeks.
The best the US could do now, is if they haven’t yet started or already secretly upgraded some F-16s, begin upgrading as soon as possible some of Ukraine’s F-16s to be able to launch JASSM missiles, and in a couple of weeks or within 2 to 3 months, Ukraine will be able to launch those missiles at Russia.

The EU is close to finalizing its 18th sanctions package against Russia, which includes a major move to lower the price cap on Russian oil to around $47 per barrel — about 15% below recent global averages. The new mechanism would be dynamic, updating every six months instead of quarterly, to better reflect market conditions.
New package will also list a Russian-owned refinery in India, two Chinese banks, and a flag registry.
As always, sanctions require unanimity among the EU's member countries to be adopted. And one member state still has a technical reservation on the new cap.
