🇨🇿🇺🇦 The Czech Initiative has delivered 400,000 rounds of large calibre ammunition to Ukraine as of yesterday, per Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová.
Current funding should last until September at least, and would allow for another 400,000 rounds to be delivered if the same pace holds. https://twitter.com/ColbyBadhwar/status/1907803852033622423#m

RT @phoenix_jz: (1/9) While there are points to be made about problems with USN procurement, this is a poor comparison because the PPA program is almost half a decade older than FFG-62. And nor has it delivered 9 ships to date - it's 4, and prior to the Indonesian sale 7 were planned by 2026. https://twitter.com/Osinttechnical/status/1917885011472101471#m

🚨🇺🇸 Trump to Propose Record $1.01 Trillion National Security Budget - Bloomberg
The Trump Admin will request over $1 trillion dollars in defense spending as part of their FY2026 Budget.
Of that, $961 billion would be for the DoD, with the balance going to other defense expenditures outside the Pentagon's purview, like The DoE's work on nuclear weapons.
For comparison:
FY2025 defense spending: $892.5 billion
FY2025 DoD budget: $848.3 billion
FY2025 defense spending may yet still increase though, as Congress is weighing an additional $150 billion in spending that would be appropriated for this year. This would theoretically make the FY2026 request a decrease over FY2025, but not all of that $150 billion will end up being spent this FY; the funds remain available through the end of FY2029.

@TomSharpe134: From an operational perspective, I see a mixed fleet and greater numbers as beneficial. However, adequate maintenance infrastructure is required too, and this is part of the source of the SSN fleet issues.
I would also say that 4 of a class normally is too few to ensure adequate availability. 6 is a much better number, but the cost of course increases.
What could make 4 work and reduce the risk of maintenance and availability issues is perhaps to join the Type 212CD program and not rely solely on UK based infrastructure.
Lastly, growing the fleet with SSKs requires more people (another problem area) and of course, a substantial amount of funding.
Since we are doing a bit of dreaming here, I must say I would really like to see the Royal Navy Fleet Plan of '25 or '26.
