@ukraine_map @Maks_NAFO_FELLA: It would be nice if it were a new development, but it’s not. This was planned months in advance, and the manufacturer has been working for a year to make the needed changes to GLSDB.

GLSDB’s two problems were its jamming capabilities (making it easily susceptible to Russian jamming) and other technical problems. Hopefully, those will be fixed soon.

However, it is not a new action taken by the US Administration. Ukraine is not getting more GLSDBs than were pledged and ordered by the US two years ago. Ukraine would also need a lot more to have an effect, meaning thousands and being allowed to strike 150km inside Russia, but the Trump Administration has not pledged Ukraine any military aid since Trump took office, and there have been no long-range ATACMS missile strikes inside Russia by Ukraine since Trump took office.

@Maks_NAFO_FELLA: Europe didn’t think Germany would attack all of Europe before WW2, but then they did. Everything Trump does is based on feelings like him thinking it won’t happen. The right thing to do would be to arm Ukraine and send US troops there after a ceasefire, but he’s too weak for that

@NOELreports: This shipment has been planned by the manufacturer for months. GLSDB malfunctioned and was practically useless when delivered to Ukraine last year, so it was returned to the manufacturer for upgrades. The company will be sending more regardless since the order was placed two years ago.

Ukraine needs ATACMS. GLSDB warhead is a joke compared to ATACMS. GLSDB is not a replacement for ATACMS. GLSDB does not have the range of the destruction potential that ATACMS has.

GLSDB would be most effective against air defense systems like Buk and Pantsir-S1 and possibly small ammo depots. It has a max range of 150km, which would not be enough to reach Russian air bases. Neither does it have a large enough unitary warhead or hundreds of cluster bomblets like ATACMS has.

How does Portugal cancel an order that they never placed? 🤔

Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 Ground Launched Small Diameter Bombs are once again on the way to Ukraine

Following 19 test flights in recent weeks, Boeing, Saab and the DoD are evidently confident that they have resolved the issues that were plaguing it. Hardware changes have been made, and likely extensive software changes too, to mitigate the EW vulnerability that the weapon suffered due to the unique circumstances of its employment, which were not present with regular SDBs.

RT @MalcontentmentT: FACT CHECK: Did Nuno Melo, Minister of Defense of Portugal, announce the F-35A order with the U.S. was canceled?

No. This is what he said: "The F-16s are at the end of their cycle and we will have to think about their replacement. However, we cannot ignore the geopolitical environment in our choices. The recent position of the United States, in the context of NATO and in the international geostrategic plan, must make us think about the best options because the predictability of our allies is a greater asset to take into account."

When pressed by Publico if "the replacement be made by French aircraft, for example?"

Melo replied, "I won't have that discussion here."

At no point in the interview did the Defense Minister explicitly state that Portugal's F-35 order was canceled.

Media literacy matters - read more than the headlines.

The truth matters.

@the_engi_nerd: Right, that's standard procedure for any prospective customer that shows even the slightest bit of interest. Hence Lockheed Martin saying that they have hundreds of potential F-16 orders, for example.
