Small comment on the UK defense debate and the upcoming SDR:
I think it would be a grave mistake for an island nation, due to fiscal constraints, down-prioritizing the Royal Navy and the RAF, in favor of the Army and large scale continental commitments.

On 05.12 Rebels attacked into the city. Some fighting but SAA largely melt away.
Source says here they flee AA MG from a🇸🇾tank.
On route an abandoned🇸🇾ZSU-23-4 Shilka (seen elsewhere later).
I didn't count the T-55 as unclear affiliation.

Syrian rebels took control of Palmyra. In 2016–2017, the city was captured twice by Wagner and Russian special forces. In May 2016, a Russian symphony orchestra even performed on the ruins of Palmyra (photos 2-3) .

The collapse of the SAA between 27 NOV 2024 - 06 DEC 2024.
The opposition forces have reached the outskirts of Homs.
Should they successfully capture the city, they would effectively sever the entire Syrian coastline, which includes two critical Russian military installations: the Khmeimim Air Base and the Tartus naval base.
The loss of these bases would create a significant logistical challenge for Russia's operations in Africa, as there would be no feasible alternatives to ensure sustained support.
