Something I found a while ago in the CIA FOIA archive.

The Soviets did issue PRIP/NAVWARNS and NOTAMs prior to the atmospheric nuclear tests on Novaya Zemlya in the 50s and early 60s.

If anyone knows of more such historical data being available somewhere else, all of the Cold War is of interest, tips would be highly appreciated.

@WarMonitors: The Israeli air operation against Hezbollah leaders was extremely successful but the ground operation in Southern Lebanon to reach the Litani River wasn’t as successful and appears to have been slowed or a failure. They’d likely need to take big risks to make significant progress

RT @deaidua: Last week, it was widely reported that Rheinmetall is building Lynx IFVs in Ukraine. However, I can now say that this is incorrect. The Ukrainian media has — after a couple of days — finally released the interview in Englishhout Ukrainian voiceover!

Here you can clearly hear, that Papperger (Rheinmetall CEO) actually says: “We want to build it (Lynx IFV) also very soon also on the Ukrainian site”. Production is therefore currently not taking place in Ukraine.

This had already made me suspicious when I listened to the original interviewh the Ukrainian voiceover, which is why I hadn't tweeted anything about it.

After all, the production of the Lynx for Ukraine has been known since January 2024 and at that time the maintenance hub had only just started and not even officially opened. How should Rheinmetall then produce one of the most modern infantry fighting vehicles in Ukraine?

With the publication of the interview...

RT @TheBaseLeg: @lightning2chan: I’ve gone through the combat reports of the USN PB4Y units that patrolled the waters off Malaya and Singapore in 1945 and was struck by how aggressive their crews were when it came to air-to-air combat (other than vs. fighters, obv) https://twitter.com/lightning2chan/status/1850484562163630219#m

RT @NavalInstitute: #OTD in 1938, Orson Welles' THE WAR OF THE WORLDS was broadcast. Midshipman Ned Beach rushed to alert the duty officer of the Martian invasion. His gullibility was mocked with a cartoon in the school magazine. He later became a decorated sub CO and wrote RUN SILENT, RUN DEEP.
