Real security guarantees, NATO membership or something like the US treaties with Japan and South Korea, is required if one wants the war to end and Ukraine to prevail, having a sustainable future.
This won't be easy, nor is it risk free, but the alternative is worse for us too.

As difficult as it may seem, Zelensky is right to push for NATO membership. Without it, or security guarantees in the form of a military alliance, freezing the current front line will be much worse for Ukraine. The war is unsustainable, but the offered alternative…

RT @John_A_Ridge: @ArmsControlWonk: An Arrow 3 All-Up Round does not cost $50M.
$50M is MDA’s FY25 top-line for the entire Program of Record. Quantities and cost elements are explicitly classified.
That includes fire units, All-Up Rounds, and other articles.
Israeli sources claim Arrow AURs cost ~$3.5M. https://twitter.com/ArmsControlWonk/status/1842294649454837972#m

IB unit cost was steady at $9 million each but escalated to $12.5 million for FY2024, the final year of (reduced) procurement.
IIA is averaging around $29 million.
SM-3 is expensive because it is an extremely sophisticated missile (it intercepts ballistic missiles in the exosphere) and is procured in small quantities. It is an essential capability that the United States needs to defend against enemy ballistic missiles (primarily Chinese but obviously Iranian, North Korean and Russian too).
