The ban on flights over the southern part of Belarus was introduced on February 24, 2022, with the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Missiles were launched against the territory of Ukraine from the south of Belarus (the last one was on October 6, 2022).

Until 19.09.2024, the restriction zone had been in effect continuously for the last 2.5 years. And civil aviation has been actually allowed to fly to the south of Belarus for a week already. Such a plan won’t be approved anyway, but formally they can do it.

We may assume that NOTAM could be removed because of forest fires in the south of Belarus, but again, this restriction already didn’t apply to the aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, which is used in firefighting and sanitary flights.
