One shouldn't overanalyze '22 before details are declassified

There are Russian staffs that wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't look at nuclear use scenarios at that time

Of course, the US had to plan for this eventuality, but this doesn't tell much about actual risk.

As Russia is a nuclear power, the risk of use is never zero.

However, again, I will emphasize that context matters. As long as the war remains in the "SMO" context, the risk of actual use will likely remain rather low.

Note the absence of nuke signals in relation to Kursk.

Because context matters, I'm sceptical though of generalizing and applying "lessons" from the "SMO" to other scenarios, especially on a possible NATO - Russia war.

Russian nuclear signalling, the real ones and not all the noise, have been consistently directed at the West.

That is likely to be the case in the future too.

The key is how the West deals with this dimension and here there is room to maneuver and increase support to Ukr.
