Today, the Telegram channel of the 61st Fighter Air Base (military unit 54804, Baranavichy airfield) reported an increase in the intensity of “patrolling the airspace along the state border of the southern operational direction with Su-30SM fighters.”

It was noted that flights are carried out at an altitude of about 8000 meters. According to @Hajun_BY, the intensity of flights of the 61st air base has indeed increased in recent weeks. Almost every day the fighters conduct flights in the southern regions of Belarus.

But most often these are flights of duty crews, coinciding in time with Russia’s attacks against Ukraine. That is, the purpose of their flights is to control flying drones. Details on the flights can be found on our online map of military activity:

There’s no longer any talk of relocating fighters to the border with Ukraine.

On August 21, it was announced that “aviation equipment [of the 61st air base] was being prepared for relocation to the operational airfield of the Southern operational direction.”

However, as of 15:00 on August 28 [despite at least a week of training], the fighters of the 61st air base are at the permanent deployment airfield in Baranavichy. No relocation of aircraft to other airfields has been recorded.

It’s possible that the statement about “relocation” of fighters was a part of the disinformation campaign conducted by the Belarusian military.

In their resources, the military claim fake redeployments of troops to the border with Ukraine. The purpose is to exaggerate the size of the group in Homiel region.

@PoolGodzilla: There is nothing wrong with the wording. I think it's supported by the data.

@dambury67: Would it not make sense to capture the area to the west and use the river as a natural barrier then? Most people are/were expecting this.

@Johnyrocket69 @Sierra__Alpha: You should tell the Russians.
