Another Finnish - Norwegian first: Three Nor fighter pilots have earned their wings on the Hawk at Tikkakoski.
According to the RNoAF, Finnish training has a bit of a sharper edge, with more tactical training earlier than in the US.

RT @olex_scherba: About the Moscow patriarchy being “banned in Ukraine”.
First of all, it’s not banned yet. Each church and parish are given time to severe their ties to Moscow and renounce the Moscow patriarch who declared the russian aggression against Ukraine a “holy war”.
Second of all, it’s quite natural for any country attacked by russia to want to have nothing to do with russia, especially in the spiritual domain. Ukraine is not canceling russia. It’s russia that canceled itself in Ukraine.
And third of all... Well, the “third of all” will take me a bit longer to explain. It’s about the destructive, undermining role that was played by the Moscow patriarchy for decades in Ukrainian life.
I knew a number of good priests that belonged to that church. Yet, sometimes good priests can’t make up for the fact that they are part of an entity that justifies the aggression, inspires killing, and, as this war showed, ultimately serves the evil.
If you don’t believe me, contemplate the fact that out of 35,000 priests in russia only 3 (three) had the courage to do the Christian thing and condemn what russia is doing in Ukraine. On the contrary, they encouraged it.
If you don’t believe me, just listen to 🇷🇺 patriarch Cyril claiming that killing thousands of Ukrainians and burning whole cities to the ground is God‘s way to teach Ukrainians the true Christian way of life. Basically, a good, educational moment.
Russia’s church has been as instrumental to this war as other parts of 🇷🇺 propaganda. Even more so. Only unlike with the propaganda, the Ukrainian state didn’t dare do anything about the church. Well, till now.
By invading Ukraine, killing its people, taking away its land, Russia consciously decided to be Ukraine’s enemy. And the enemy cannot be allowed an uninhibited access to the soul of your people (which church effectively is).
A number of years ago, long before the war started in 2014, I lost a friend to that “church”. He was a bright young man, a typical child of the 1980s and 1990s. At some point, like it always happens, his life hit a bump. And like many people in a situation like that, he sought solace, consolation and advice in a church. The advice the Moscow patriarchy gave him was that he swerved from the true Christian way and is being punished for that. And that the solution to his problems was to grow a really long beard, to conceive five children and to start hating America. I’m joking, of course, but it must be the gist of what he was taught, based on what he had become after that. A completely different person.
Moscow patriarchy is deeply, profoundly political. In 2014, its monasteries in Ukraine harbored 🇷🇺 troops and weaponry. The so-called “Russian orthodox army” tortured and killed four evangelicals in 🇺🇦 Sloviansk in June 2014, just because they were evangelicals. They welcomed the arrest and harassment of participants of the “Prayer for Ukraine” group in Donetsk in August 2014. They effectively banned Catholic and Evangelical temples all over the occupied territory of Ukraine.
For many years, Moscow patriarchy was the bulwark of 🇷🇺 influence in Ukraine. In many cases, it turned Ukrainians against Ukraine. It enthusiastically co-created this war. And it couldn’t be allowed in Ukraine anymore.

@KlnRkj: BAE produces the Mark 45 out of their Fridley MN & Louisville, KY facilities, AIUI. Presumably they do have rotary forges to do that work, but historically there has been a lot of separation between the Army & Navy industrial bases; the Army doesn't seem to view them as an option for their own needs.

I'm the first to say that we all need to BDS China but for a lot of things it's simply not feasible right away. If there were economical alternatives that could have delivered on the needed timelines then there's a story here and you should ask DoD for comment & write about it.

RT @Jack_Watling: Oliver's reporting was correct. Ukraine did not inform its partners about the Kursk operation. Have had some partners bemoan this. But given the speed with which things told to certain partners end up being discussed in the NYT/WaPo, should cause some self reflection.
