@aly21448: It's not up to the United States or Europe to "control the war". You either support Ukraine or you don't. Supporting Ukraine means giving them the weapons they need and letting them use them as necessary. Biden & Scholz can't micro manage this like LBJ did with Vietnam.

🇺🇲🇨🇦 The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Canada of 48 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II+ missiles; 120 AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II missiles; 96 AIM-9X Block II Training missiles; and other associated equipment & services for an estimated cost of $264.6 million.
Canada already has an existing FMS case for 90 Sidewinders, with LOAs signed in 2021 (76) & 2023 (14) following approval for up to 100 in 2017.
The prime contractor would be Raytheon. Any possible offset agreements will be negotiated between Canada and Raytheon.
"The description and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements. Actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded."
The unit price for Sidewinder is ~$400k.
