Use of conscripts in combat is a sore point in Russia but the Kursk situation isn't directly comparable to past examples, nor isn't it what Putin envisaged when he gave his promise.
Therefore, rather unsurprising that conscripts are deployed, with or without signing contracts.

There is still a window to act but it won't be open forever. I'd say Western actions haven't indicated the necessary political will to avoid a unfavorable outcome for Ukraine.
And a unfavorable outcome for Ukraine is unfavorable for the West, especially us close to Russia.
