Located on the border with Bangladesh, the Burmese city of Maungdaw, still in the hands of the government, is the refuge of many Rohingyas. Surrounded, civilians members of this persecuted Muslim minority are trapped in a city frequently bombed by rebels. On August 5, dozens of Rohingyas were killed while trying to cross the river marking the border between Burma and Bangladesh. The observers analyzed the images of the killing and spoke to a witness of the events. The origin of the strike remains uncertain.

The State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Israel of 50 newly built F-15IA (EX derivative) fighter jets, 25 F-15IA upgrade kits for existing F-15Is, plus associated equipment and services for an estimated cost of $18.82 billion.
The prime contractor would be Boeing. Offset agreements are expected and would be negotiated by Israel and Boeing. Deliveries are expected in 2029, indicating the USAF has not agreed to surrender any build slots.

The EX is a further development of the F-15 FMS variant that was built for them & the Saudis, with the latter considering procuring the EX & upgrading their existing fleet to thst standard. USAF will pay ~$85-$86 million per aircraft for the latest Lots.
