Many don't understand, but when invaders come to your doorstep, you can either run or fight. He chose to fight and did so well for more than two years.
He was a warrior from the 92nd Mechanized and now Assault Brigade.
But sometimes, even if everything is done right, you still have no control over your life on the battlefield. A 152mm shell, a lancet, or an FPV drone can break through all possible measures and catch you.
Volodymyr came to @AndrewPerpetua stream once, and we talked about his work, the future, and the past. He had big plans for his life...

I think that is the main reason but it was also to put Kharkiv in artillery range and to claim to a domestic audience that a buffer had been established to protect Russian territory. Ultimately Putin may also have envisioned using it to trade in any eventual peace negotiation he might hope for post Trump.
