855-56. POWs from🇷🇺71st Motor Rifle Regt, NOV 23.
One more group of 6 POWs from the 71st that I missed from November. It seems POWs from the 71st mainly come in groups of six (see tweet 839-40 + 847)!
It is explained that they were encircled. Part of the group repelled the assault, then they were approached ... (unclear) ... and captured. The lieutenant from this group explains more in the next tweet.
Same interview room for many other Robotyne/Verbove POWs.

856. POWs from🇷🇺71st Motor Rifle Regt, NOV 23.
The captured RuAF lieutenant in tweet 855 (front right). I couldn't find interviews with the other five.
He was encircled. It became obvious that there was no point in resisting, so he surrendered. He was supposed to command 27 men, but there were only 15 as his unit had many wounded. He is questioned about his area of the line, the UAF offensive and about the frequency of rotation in his unit.

What's important here is the shift in rhetoric, departing from talking about everything the West won't do and instead creating at least some ambiguity.
Imagine this being done a lot sooner.
Western countries directly entering the war isn't likely.

Sending western troops to fight in Ukraine “could not be ruled out”, French President Emmanuel Macron has said, vowing that western leaders who gathered in Paris “will do everything needed so Russia cannot win the war”

@akihheikkinen: I don't think we (the West) is ready to make that sort of move yet.
What's more likely is Western training missions and advisors on the ground inside Ukraine.

@krakek1 @akihheikkinen: If individual Western countries choose go down this path at some point, that's a risk they'll have to accept. Could it spark anger? Yes. Trigger a wider war? Unlikely.

RT @Tatarigami_UA: When assessing the state of prepared fortifications post-Avdiivka and other key areas that might become frontlines this year, "disappointing" is probably the best description. The defenses are not as nearly good as the ones the Russians have built.
Solid strategic fortifications require joint efforts of the General Staff, Ministry of Defense, and civilian government — it cannot be accomplished solely with the resources of exhausted brigades or individual battalions!

RT @shashj: @HoansSolo: Franz’s tweet should be read v carefully. He is saying what officials cannot say openly: that while Ukraine could technically fire Taurus without German boots on the ground, the experience of UK & French cruise missile use suggests that would be hard to avoid in practice.

Looks like @FHeisbourg got it right:
"Sowing confusion in the West's ranks isn't the same thing as wielding strategic ambiguity"
Seems a good number of European leaders didn't like what Macron said yesterday and aren't interested in ambiguity either. https://twitter.com/KyivIndependent/status/1762457166261203135#m
