For me it's pretty simple. There should be one goal for the politicians, that is to defend Ukraine the best way possible. That part should then be up to the military to decide. There are ofc a few exceptions to this.

This is not how it's been working. Several times the military decided to withdraw. That later got overruled by politicians. Severodonetsk and Bakhmut are two examples. I dont think it's healthy for the military to be run that way.

Ukraine did not fight in Bakhmut because it was the best strategy or to kill of wagner. They fought there because the politicians did not want to let it go because it wasn't popular to lose a city and they thought it would look bad in the eyes of the west.

@ellenripley_: That's not true. The politicians bypassed Zaluzhnyi for some things and went straight to Syrskyi.

@y_redrum0376: Yeah. You might wasn't to ask your self why. Was it because the goals set by the politicians were unrealistic or was it because he didn't have the tools to do it.

@FolgendenFolgen: It's not favorable to be surrounded on 3 sides, without counter battery or air defense. I wanted them to pull out. The Russians chose to fight in the city because it did not cost them a lot. They used expendable prisoners against UA regular units.

@TomUnknown21: Yes. In prepared positions where you are not surrounded, where you have working medevac and you can use counter battery and air defense. In places where dismounted Wagner infantry has a greater disadvantage against Ukrainian mechanized units.

RT @OSINTua: One year ago the RUAF were pushing near Vuhledar. Different Russian units tried to breakthrough but didn’t manage, suffered heavy losses and were stoped.
Apart from that direction RUAF we’re pushing near Avdiivka. And my brigade was defending the city from the South🧵

@WhoIsOSINT @secretsqrl123: I never liked the 2nd half of the Bakhmut fight. I never liked Syrskyi. This is not new, I've said it before.

@secretsqrl123: The only thing that would have changed if they pulled back is that they could have fought the russians from better positions than when surrounded from 3 sides without air defense or counter battery and with shitty medevac and supply routes.

@DefMon3 @secretsqrl123: The russians gave up on using VDV on the flanks because it cost them too much and reverted to attacking the city with expendables.

@AlvaroDel_Gado @secretsqrl123: There were 9 months to prepare for that. But it was decided to hold at all cost. And there were defenses built. I've seen pictures of the.
