@KyivIndependent: So why not fired Umerov, instead of firing Zaluzhnyi? It doesn’t make any sense what they are doing

Zelenskyi removed Reznikov several months ago, and put in Umerov who had no prior experience in the Ministry of Defense. And these problems are still persisting and costing lives

@P_Kallioniemi: Biden also needs to find a go around maybe secretly sending equipment to Ukraine or use the $300 billion of frozen Russian funds to allocate or buy military equipment for Ukraine

@JooDoug61847440 @EuromaidanPR: Because Zelensky was not at the frontlines fighting, commanding, or defending Kyiv. Zaluzhnyi was the leader of the military which successful made the Russian withdraw from Kyiv and retook 50% of the lost territory, that was done militarily, and if there was less competent military commanders then Ukraine may have lost Kyiv. The battle of Kyiv took tremendous skill and knowledge of military tactics to defeat Russia especially in the first hours and day. This is the main reason why ~90% Ukrainians support and love Zaluzhnyi, more than that of Zelensky. I’m not saying that Zelensky didn’t play a vital role in defending Kyiv, but I’m saying it’s not more than Zaluzhnyi played.

If you think that if Zelensky left the capital that Ukraine would just fall apart, and surrender Kyiv, then you don’t know the Ukrainian people well enough. They don’t want to be part of Russia, it doesn’t matter who the president is they will put their lives on the line for it. But it is also true that Zelensky served as a unity figure during the battle of Kyiv but the real battle was on the ground at the frontlines.

Zaluzhnyi does not speak bad about the government. If you’ve read his editorial, they are very rarely written, maybe one editorial every month or two or even more rarely. Zaluzhnyi does not speak every single day to the media like Budanov does. He is not that type of person, he is not about PR. His written pieces are specifically about the war and the situation at the front, he presents it realistically, not painting a false picture.

That is another main reason why Ukrainian people respect him is because he tells the truth, he values the lives of his soldiers, he doesn’t do PR 24/7 likely many government officials do, he doesn’t have political ambitions or even stray into politics, and he’s a national hero because he’s one of the main people that saved the country, he is the main person that Ukrainians truly trust.

@gxp11 @SpeakerJohnson @BorisJohnson: There is no proof of any of this, only Pro-Russians saying it. This is what Russia used as an excuse to invade Ukraine. There is no justification for the invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine never posed a threat to Russia, the chances they were going to join NATO was 0. And Ukraine is not the first neighboring country that Russia has invaded.

It’s in Russia’s history that they constantly invade countries or territories around them, to expand their control and subjugate people to be “Russians” erasing their actual identity as much as possible.
