Since autumn it seems there were repeated counterattacks by both sides back/forth between the 2 treelines with the VAB wrecks in tweet 572-3.
Here a rare🇺🇦BMP-1TS brings a squad to the western VAB wreck (47.464701, 35.943878). They fire northwards, RuAF is likely north of the tank. The squad later withdraws.
The tank we will see destroyed in the next tweet. Its a T-72M/M1(R) from the🇺🇦National Guard's 14th Assault Brigade 'Chervona Kalyna' (they also operate some BMP-1TS).
RuAF also has 3 BMD losses around here. We will come to them later in the thread.

=> consistent with public statements by John Bolton that Trump would've pulled the U.S. out of NATO had he won the 2020 election.
=> consistent with the U.S. Congress having approved a bill in December 2023 preventing the President from withdrawing the U.S. from NATO without Senate approval or an act of Congress.
=> however, under a Trump Presidency, as commander-in-chief, Trump would not need to formally withdraw to destroy NATO. He could simply refuse to come to the aid of Allies under attack. It would violate America's word, but it couldn't be prevented.
=> not sure we've seen much of a wake-up call anywhere. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been a wake-up call in parts of Europe. But not all of it. Serious public talk by top military leaders in Western Europe that we may end up being at war with Russia started only a few months ago. Serious public talk by top *political* leaders in Western Europe on that same topic hasn't even started yet.
=> the next U.S. President will be inaugurated in 12 months' time. That's the time Europe has. 12 months.
